Wiring Harness vs. Cable Assembly

The difference between wiring harness and cable assembly lies in the external wire casing. Wiring harness assemblies consist of individual wires covered by thermoset or thermoplastic material and could be tied or wrapped together while cable assemblies are covered by durable sheathing made of vinyl, thermoplastic, shrink wrapped thermoplastic or rubber. While both, in essence, serve the same purpose cable assembly construction is used to address impact of the external environment and as well consumer friendly design. In most cases, wiring harnesses are used inside product enclosures.
